Cosmetic Asian Double Eyelid Surgery Brisbane

Commonly the Asian eye has no visible fold. The essential goal of Asian eye enhancement is a double eyelid conforming to an individual's concept of beauty.

Dr. Wong prefers to use local anaesthestics so that he can check the position of the new crease during surgery by asking the patient to open their eyes. If sedation is required please check with staff regarding additional Day Surgical Centre facility and anaesthestic fees.

The common approach requires a surgical skin incision not unlike non Asian blepharoplasty. However sometimess less invasive techniques can be used that involve no skin incision (non-incisional) and rely instead on different ways of placing sutures through the eyelid skin. The sutures create internal eyelid "inflammation" during healing, which "spot welds" a crease into place.

Surgery done through a skin incision is more likely to create a long-lasting, if not permanent, crease. While simple suturing techniques are still practiced widely, the crease may change with time.

Attempting to "westernize" the lids is ill-advised; special consideration at the time of consultation should be directed to determining proper crease height and contour.

As a rule, Asian eyelid skin may stay swollen for a longer time interval (2-6 months). The crease position and shape will vary as healing progresses and not reach its final configuration for six months or more. Scars may stay red and thickened for a longer time.
